Intranasal midazolam: Is a fast way to give medicine to a child who cannot swallow. Works faster than oral medicines (those that must be swallowed). Is more reliable than rectal medicines (those given in the rectum, the body opening where stool comes out). This is because it gets absorbed through the small blood vessels of the nose. When should intranasal midazolam be used?

The medication is quickly absorbed through the lining of the nose and enters the bloodstream. A respiratory crisis rapidly treated by intranasal midazolam administration (5 mg/1 mL concentration, 2.5 mg/0.5 mL into each nostril). Note that we observed and treated 4 respiratory crises during hospitalization. All the attacks were preceded by dry cough (not shown in the video) and complemented by stridor.

All you will need to do at that point is connect the atomizer and deliver the correct dose for your child If the seizure cluster has not stopped 10 minutes after you use midazolam nasal spray, a second dose may be used if your doctor has told you to. Do not use more than 2 doses for the same seizure.
